3 simple steps to manage time when studying

Studying requires concentration which means your mind must be fully present and focus at that particular time.

Two friends Alabi and Tosin went to the master’s class in UNILAG, faculty of Arts to study. However, Tosin, went to the restaurant to eat, bought 2 bottles of water, biscuit, a bottle of coke while Alabi just picked up his E-Class Video Lecture to start studying.

Furthermore, Tosin ensured that he switched off his phones and Samsung tablet to avoid any form of distraction and at the end of the day Tosin covered 6x more than Alabi who had a lots of break during his study and this caused a lot of distortion because he didn’t know how to manage his time when studying.

Hence, avoid the mistakes Alabi made by these 3 simple keys of managing your time when studying.

Simple step #1-Get all you need: this is a very simple approach to study and get the best out of your study. All you need to do like Tosin is to ensure that before you start studying, make your E-Class Video Lecture available, get your laptop and its charger, your note and pen, if you feel hungry eat a balanced diet, get 2 bottles of water, a pack of biscuit, a bottle of soft drink and others. This will keep your mind in a spot.

Simple step #2-Switch off all gadgets: Most of the calls, chats, news feed checking, profile update on facebook, twitter, linkedin, google+  when studying causes  distraction and makes the length of study to be long and the assimilation to be very low or no assimilation at all and it is due to the interruption in the course of study. Because the mind does things in sequence and logical manner, any form interruption will lead to starting the process all over again and if the interruption becomes frequent then, study stops. Therefore, ensure that all our devices are turned off.

Simple step #3-Concentration: since you have got all you need and switch off all mobile devices, you have to set your mind on the course. Remember that the E-Class Video Lecture was prepared based on the syllabus. That is, it is topic base. Hence, when you studying a topic, breakdown it down into steps and this has been done for you already in the syllabus. This will not only enhance your concentration but also enhances your assimilation because you have broken it to bits for the mind to easily assimilate.
