“Nobody is better than you, they only convert or use time better than you”…

In May 2011, after I wrote my master’s first-semester exam, I must confess that it was as if I have not gone through school before. It was also as if I didn’t know what I was doing. To cut the story short, I scored a pass in 6 out of 9 courses. It was really devastating for me. However, my roommate who is not as smart as I am scored distinction (A) in 7 out of 9 courses.According to Socrates, an unexamined life is not worth living. So I had to check myself and to my surprise, I realized that I did not devote enough time for my studies. Even when I claimed that I did a lot of sleepless nights which to be sincere took place 3 weeks to the exams. As a result, I changed my strategy by studying ahead before the exam period. So I did my reading time table and I started my studying early which paid off at the end of the day. In today’s article, we will be looking at 3 reasons why students fail ICAN exams

1.  Poor Time Management: As we know that everything is created through time.
For instance, your phone, your laptop, your car, clothes etc. This implies a conscious
devotion of time by hundreds or thousands of people directed towards production
through proper planning and processes. Hence, you need to structure yourself properly
by devoting a lot of time to study for your ICAN exam. I must confess that the difference
between those who pass and those who fail an exam is the way they spend their time
(early preparation, solving of comprehensive past questions and answers) etc.
2. Not Goal Oriented: research has shown that some students have a primary goal at
hand that once they qualify they want to apply for a better job, want salary increase,
want to start their own accounting firm later in future easily pass their ICAN exams
because there is a physiological effect going on their subconscious mind to reach
their professional goal ASAP despite all challenges.

So, don’t give up on your ICAN exam, instead, you should plan all your activities and push every obstacle/pressure that will stand in your way because currently we need more qualified accountants to help us turn our current economic situation around.

3.  Fire brigade Method: Just like I illustrated above, this the worst study technique to
use because it puts too much stress on the brain, body, and soul. Apart from the fact
that I had 6 D’s in my first semester exam, I also fell sick for 2 weeks which affected
my productivity level. I later realized that using the fire brigade method will lead to
inefficiency and exam failure which is preventable. In fact, it also leads to mixing the
answers up for another question.

To your success,

Alluh Nelson

P.S. You know the secret to passing ICAN exam is early preparation which will save you the physiological stress of studying under pressure (fire brigade approach) which no amount of money can quantify.
