I was discussing with my neighbor early last year and he was complaining bitterly
how he wished his daughter who was in SS2 can gain admission and graduate from the
university before he retired, since he has only 5 years of active service.
Then I told him that he can fastrack his child’s admission into University
by registering his child to write GCE while in SS2, so he did exactly as I told him.
Guess what, the Child took the last GCE , passed all
her papers and has also gained admission into the university.
• Attempting GCE at SS2 will enable your child to have the experience that
will help him/her to improve. This is a big advantage for your child.
• Attempting GCE at SS2 will increase your child’s chances of gaining admission into
the university at a young age.
• Even if you child did not pass GCE at SS2, he/she will be better off than those who
did not attempt. Your child chances of passing WAEC at SS3 will be high, because he/
she will be exposed to GCE’s standard ahead.
• 60 percent of the questions in WAEC/NECO/GCE exams are from SS1 and SS2 syllabus,
so they are still fresh in your head at SS2.
Don’t let your children stay extra 1 or more year at home in other
to pass SSCE exams, give them an edge by writing GCE before they get to SS3.
