3 ABC Ways of Overcoming Excuses in all Sphere of Life

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else…Benjamin Franklin

Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses…George Washington Carver
Excuse is an attempt to lessen the blame attaching to (a fault or offense); seek to defend or justify. It is also a reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offense. Excuses is a comfort zone where we find all the reason to justify our actions.

I could still remember how a lecturer whose name I am not permitted to mention explained how he overcome all odds. In 1997, after concluding final exams, in got involved in an autocrash on his way back home. The accident severely affected his spinal cord and paralyzed the part  that controlled his legs so he could not move the legs at all.

Devastating! Is in it?

Statistics have shown that 90% of people involved in similar accident either go back to their village or turn a complete beggar on wheel chair. But, he said that though he may have lost the functionality of his both legs. However, he still has his hands, brains and other parts of his body so “not achieving my dreams despite my condition is an excuse”

At the end of the day, he was able to achieve his dream of becoming a lecturer of economics and in the same condition which has not changed up to this moment qualified as a chartered accountant and chartered stockbroker.

I was amazed and could not resist asking him how he did it. I asked him what the super extra ordinary things he did were. According to him he did not do anything super or extra ordinary, they are ordinary and common things we do. The question is what are they?

In this post we will discuss 3 habits you must cultivate to be successful under any circumstances.

Belief in yourself: like I have always said belief in your abilities is the starting point towards success. According to Napoleon Hill “ whatever a man can belief, he can achieve.” Like the above lecturer he said that he believed and got convinced that he will make it and this became the foundation and a stepping stone where all his achievement were built on. However, you are not an exemption if a physical challenged could belief and achieve, then what excuse do you have.

Definite Plans: another step he took was to draw plans like getting clutches and not a wheel chair where he will not need assistant to transit. He also got a boot so that it won’t damaged easily and unexpectedly. He also went to the school to make inquiry about their masters and Phd programmes. Likewise, he went to the professional body to makes similar plans in other to complete his plans. I know that you will be wondering how he got the finance. For a person who has a very strong desire to achieve his dreams, finance will always take care of itself one way or another. He got a part-time job at a tuition center to teach QT and Economics. Because of his sincerity and strong will, people tend to help him with student who need private lessons on his courses.

Daily Ritual: According to him, this forms the basis of his energy. He also said that there are habits similar to what successful people do that most of us are not aware of. What he did was to cultivate the habit and part of the habit was daily affirmation (Affirmations are positive statements that describe a desired situation, which are often repeated, until they get impressed on the subconscious mind.) of his plans early in morning after drinking a glass of water and at night before going to bed.
