One of the greatest investment we can have as a parent is to invest in our child/children’s education.
I know if could be tough sometimes when you don’t have the financial capability, but if you start see that educating your child is actually an investment, then it will become a burden to us.
I remember when my child was in SS2 and wanted to write GCE, her class mate Ngozi mother could not afford GCE exam, so Ngozi was feeling sad every day in the school. I got to know about it and called Ngozi mum (she is actually my church member).
She gave me excuse that that she can’t afford, like I know that her husband was late. I had to empathize and told Ngozi’s mum that she should just assume she wants to invest by paying for her daughters GCE exams. She finally agreed after much persuasion.
Ngozi did the GCE in ss2 and passed 5 papers out of 9 papers . When she did WAEC at ss3 , she passed 6 but no English Language, thanks to God she already made her English language at ss2 when she did GCE. She also wrote Jamb that year and pass.
She would have missed a scholarship that year to study Pharmacy in UK if not that she combined her WAEC and GCE result.
Imagine what she would have lost; TIME (staying at home for another year) and Opportunity (Scholarship).
Investments in your children’s future through education is one of the Best Gifts you can give them and yourself.
P.S: There’s no doubt that your child’s education is a critical financial goal that is critical to ensuring good quality of life for your child.
Invest ahead by letting your child to write GCE while in SS2.
