Early last week my colleague Temitope posted on our blog discussing how he and Alluh Nelson have achieved their goals for this year sequel to planning ahead.
Sincerely speaking, I didn’t achieve much this year and some of my friends that I asked also didn’t achieve their goals for this year. Some of them complained that:
- Our current economy is very tough (recession) which is true
- The exchange rate is not something to write home about. (the cost of living is now very expensive).
- Stress of daily life especially in Lagos (no light, traffic and high crime rate). The era of change no make sense at all.
Its not that I am discussing the Nigerian problem, however all the above reasons are genuine. In fact there are more reasons that I don’t want to discuss here.
How many times have you said to yourself, if only this had happened, or, if only I had done this or that, things would be different?
The fact remains the same … If you keep doing what you’ve been doing—you will get what you’ve always gotten.
Research has shown that most people spend their whole lives abandoning their dreams and pay attention to Social media, TV, Sport bet, Ponzi Schemes or stuck on a point without making progress toward their goals.

Here is the 90/10 rule of planning.:
This rule says that the first 10% of time that you spend planning your work before you begin will save you as much as 90% of the time in getting the job done once you get started.
This implies that if you can apply the 90/10 rule to your new year’s revolution and create time before 31st of December to plan 2017 ahead, you’ll definitely be productive and great in 2017.
